What it means in practice

The booking links and availability widgets here go to GetYourGuide, a licensed online travel agency. If you book after following one, GetYourGuide pays me a percentage of what you spent. You pay exactly what you would have paid going to GetYourGuide directly, because the commission comes out of their margin rather than your pocket. Prices printed on this site are the “from” figures GetYourGuide displayed at the time of writing, and the widget re-prices by date, party size and the option you choose.

What it does not mean

It does not buy a recommendation, and the shape of this site is the evidence. The page I push hardest is the official ticket page, which sends you to Vivaticket to try for a state ticket that is currently €15 and earns me nothing at all. The next hardest is ticket prices, which exists to tell you that the cheapest tour here costs about four times face value. A site that only ever says yes is worth nothing to you and, before long, nothing to me either.

What I am not

Not a tour operator, not the museum, not the Ministero della Cultura, not Vivaticket and not GetYourGuide. I never name the operator behind a tour listing; I name guides only when reviewers name them. Ratings and review counts are copied from GetYourGuide unrounded, and the reviewer material behind the reviews is thin enough that I say so on the page rather than inventing more of it. Official prices and release arrangements quoted here are the published position at the time of writing; confirm them with Vivaticket before you travel.
